Introduction
The Master of Fine Arts in Film is a three-year, 60 credit hour terminal degree. Upon completion of the MFA program, graduates will be fully qualified to teach at the university level or compete in the ever changing landscape of the motion picture industry.
The program emphasizes production skills through both a series of production seminars and the thesis project. In addition, students are required to take courses in writing, history, and theory in order to create a more well rounded education. Students are expected to enroll full time and take nine credits a semester. Students complete two years of full time course work. In their third year, students write, direct, produce, and edit a thesis film (approximately 30 minutes).
