Firms that innovate will outperform those that don’t – and this MSc equips you with the knowledge and skills to lead and manage innovation at operational and strategic levels.
Focusing on new product and service development in larger organisations, in both the private and public sectors, you develop an integrative approach that combines management of the market, technological and organisational changes while learning how to create value from innovation.
You’ll benefit from our collaboration with the OECD, Sussex Innovation Centre, Wired Sussex and other innovative organisations. You’ll also learn from visiting speakers about their innovation management practices.

We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2023/24. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to COVID-19, or due to staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum. It may not be possible to take some module combinations due to timetabling constraints. We’ll make sure to let our applicants know of material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.

Science, Technology and Innovation Challenge
You’ll have the opportunity to compete for a prize for developing novel science, technology and innovation ideas. Our Science, Technology and Innovation Challenge helps you develop skills in:
- Presenting
- Communication
- Critical thinking.
You can work on your own or in a small team. At the end of the year, you’ll pitch your idea to a panel of industry experts and a live audience.
The Challenge is optional. It’s designed to enrich your academic studies and give you the opportunity to apply knowledge gained from the course. It’ll also allow you to explore essay and dissertation topics.
