Introduction
AQFood focuses on the production of aquatic food throughout the entire production and food supply chain, linking primary production including aquaculture and wild catch with processing and distribution to the consumers in terms of quality and safety.
What can you use this qualification for?
An increased demand for aquatic food in the world requires highly qualified candidates throughout the entire food chain. The growing aquatic food industry becomes more and more integrated, meaning that individual companies cover several parts of the entire value chain.
What will you learn?
The program gives you a global understanding of the aquatic food production. You will learn about the entire value chain for aquatic food, from fishery and aquaculture throughout processing, distribution until the product reaches the consumer. The program is focusing on safety and quality, from sea to table.
About
This is a double degree master program, including mobility, offered by a consortium of five leading universities in the Nordic countries. You start with the first year at one university and take the second year at another consortium university. The first semester (30 ECTS) is equal for all essentially given as e-learning, focusing on the entire aquatic value chain. AQFood offers after this three possible study tracks, Aquatic Production starting with the first year at NMBU, Natural Resources (first year at NTNU) and Industrial Production (first year at DTU). The second year is used for specialization, opening for several possibilities. After studying industrial production at DTU in the first year you may, as an example, continue with product development at NMBU during your second year.
