Program Description

Our MSc in Programme and Project Management is designed for those who wish to move into project management, either in their current technology and business field or into a new field of expertise. Participants on this course can have a very wide range of academic and work backgrounds. It is suitable for those with work experience as well as those with little or no background in business.

We will provide you with:

  • The methodologies, tools, principles and philosophies of successful project management.
  • You will learn about human resource management in projects and programmes as well as risk management and change management. You will also develop a methodical approach to the management of the financial aspects of projects and programmes.

Course structure

The course is modular - each student takes a combination of core and elective modules. 9 modules are studied and assessed in total. Modules consist of nominally 40 hours directed tuition in the form of lectures, seminars, group work, presentations, case studies and e-learning. This is covered in a full-immersion, intensive week. Modules are assessed by Post Module Assignment. The taught modules account for 50% of the Master's degree. A major individual research project, submitted in the form of a dissertation accounts for the other 50%. An oral examination is held upon completion.

Core modules

  • Financial Analysis & Control Systems
  • Project Planning, Management & Control
  • Organisations, People & Performance
  • International Joint Ventures
  • Management of Change
  • Managing the Multi-Project / Programme environment
  • Programme and Project Strategy

You can choose two electives from the full list on our website.

Please note: Our course and module content and the schedule is continually reviewed and updated to reflect the latest research expertise at Warwick, so it is therefore very important that you check the website for the latest information before you apply and when you accept an offer.

Project

The project is worth 50% of the final grade and supports you in developing your personal research skills. Work on your project runs concurrently with your module work. For Programme and Project Management the project can be related to projects in a number of different industrial sectors and can address many different aspects of project or programme management.

After You Graduate

Graduates can expect to be employed in service industries, information technology, engineering or any other business area needing project management skills
