Introduction
The Master of Arts in Dance offers two specializations:
Choreography, on one hand, Teaching and Coaching Dance Professionals on the other. It builds the choreographic and teaching skills needed to work with dance professionals and to qualify for the relevant professions. Coursework includes choreographic methods, teaching skills, and artistic research with a view to developing an individual artist or teaching profile. The programme promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and helps students to establish a sustainable network within the international field of dance.
The Master Dance, Choreography programme equips students to work as choreographers in the field of professional stage dance.
Students are taught how to showcase their own artistic profile and position themselves in the dance environment. They learn how to support and steer creative processes during planning and implementation, how to position their own areas of work in a research context, design and carry out their own research activities, speak about, organise and market their own work and contribute to current discourse, access sources of funding and establish a financially stable standard of living for themselves.
Students learn the skills required to run choreography projects with a high artistic content and to develop working methods accordingly.
They acquire the didactic skills and coaching methods which are an integral part of the work of a choreographer.
The Master Dance, Teaching and Coaching Dance Professionals programme equips students to work in training leadership/coaching/lecturing in the field of professional stage dance and professional dance training.
Students are taught how to showcase their own teaching profile and position themselves in the dance environment. They learn how to support and steer creative processes in planning and implementation, how to position their own areas of work in a research context, design and carry out their own research activities, speak about, organize and market their own work and establish a financially stable standard of living for themselves.
In the field of practice Teaching and Coaching Dance Professionals, students learn how to lead training and rehearsal sessions in their field of work and how to develop their own teaching profile in order to be able to teach dance students or train and coach professional dancers. They are taught how to apply didactic methods in a focused, well-founded and individual way. They acquire the skills in choreography that are required for their field of work.
