Introduction
The Master’s Degree Programme in Educational Sciences is a two-year programme comprising 120 ECTS credits. The aims of the programme are to prepare highly competent educators and to enhance the quality of education in the diversifying contexts of a globalised world in which education is the key to the success of both individuals and societies. The programme offers both theoretical and practical skills across a wide selection of topics in the field of education, ranging from early childhood education to learning in old age. During the Master’s Degree Programme in Educational Sciences, students will gain a broad understanding of the field of education, including awareness of international issues in education. Students will also gain insights into the Finnish education system.
Students will acquire scientific expertise in the field of education and will be able to work with theories and analyse and develop educational practices. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to specialise in the areas of education that they find the most relevant and interesting. Research-based teaching facilitates students' development as competent and critical members of today's digitalised information and knowledge society.

Curriculum
The programme offers a unique opportunity to get firsthand experience on the Finnish Education System. Studies also include aspects of intercultural competence and international education policies and practices. Research studies consist of academic skills, research methods and master’s thesis. Students also focus on their chosen specialisation area and will acquire deeper understanding of that specific topic. Collaboration and discussion between students focusing on different specialisation areas deepen their understanding of the different educational phenomena and broaden their multi-professional and multidisciplinary knowledge and know-how.

Learn about Educational Sciences and choose your area of specialisation! The objective of the Master’s Degree Programme in Educational Sciences is to prepare highly competent and internationally oriented educators to raise the quality of education in the diversifying contexts of the globalised world. During the Master’s Degree Programme in Educational Sciences, students will gain a broad understanding of the field of education with a particular awareness of international issues in education. Students become familiar with the Finnish education system and reflect it to their own experiences and the global contexts. Students will have the opportunity to specialise in areas of education which they find the most relevant and interesting. The areas of specialisation are Educational Leadership, Guidance and Counselling, Early Childhood Studies, Language Education, Special Education, and Current Issues in Education and Psychology.
Students will acquire scientific expertise in the field of education and will be able to work with theories and analyse and develop educational practices. The Master’s Degree creates a foundation for producing scientific knowledge and applying scientific methods in practice in the field of education. The programme prepares experts into various sectors of education in national and international contexts: educational planning, administration, consultancy, coordination, development, teaching and research.
