Introduction

The need for a sustainable energy supply is becoming more important with declining fossil energy resources, environmental pollution, and climate change. The international community has agreed to the use of renewable energy as an instrument towards sustainable energy development. Management of these energy resources and technologies is a vital issue globally and it needs well-trained workforce – from policy level to practitioner level. The study program Renewable Energy Management will contribute to renewable energy promotion in countries, especially the developing countries in tropics and subtropics, via a holistic renewable energy management concept. The master provides a platform where students can acquire necessary skills, methods, and knowledge to achieve this goal. The studies cover a period of four semesters. The first and second semester take place in Cologne, the third semester can be used for study exchange at ITT partner universities. The program consists of basic modules with the aim of providing an overview of renewable energy, economics, project management and the regional and institutional context. In addition, the participants select electives related to specific topics of renewable energy management. The fourth semester will focus on the preparation of the master thesis. Internships and research stay, if possible together with a local institution or company, guarantee the practical orientation of the research. Admission Who will participate?
