BSN-prepared RNs can now continue their education for advanced practice with the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at Belmont University School of Nursing. The DNP is a practice doctorate serving as a terminal professional degree for nurses in advanced practice and nursing administration. DNP graduates will be eligible to sit for the national Family Nurse Practitioner certification exam through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification program (AANPCP). Graduates will attain clinical, organizational and leadership expertise designed to meet the changing demands of the present and future health care system. The program will develop nursing leaders skilled in measurement of patient and population outcomes, education of diverse populations, leadership in health policy development and implementation, translation of evidence into clinical practice, and advocacy for safe and quality care within complex health care delivery systems. The Belmont DNP meets the professional standards for the practice doctorate (DNP Essentials) developed by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). Undergraduate students looking to attend the Master of Occupational Therapy program can complete an undergraduate degree at TWU in exercise science with a concentration in pre-occupational therapy. Occupational Therapy Certification The MOT program is designed to help you become a well-rounded, leadership-focused, advocacy-minded occupational therapy practitioner and to succeed at passing the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Examination. The Master of Science in Epidemiology program is a 36 credit hour degree program designed to provide the necessary methodological skills for students/ clinicians/healthcare professionals to be able to independently conduct research and acquire grants in a chosen field of study. As part of this program, students receive training in epidemiology, biostatistics, health research methods, health behavior, and health promotion. The program is offered to qualified applicants holding a bachelor’s, master’s, or professional degree in a variety of disciplines including physical, biological, and social sciences, health, and medical sciences. The program emphasizes training for current health professionals to develop and enhance their research design and data analysis skills. The program offers three distinct tracks: Clinical Investigation; Biostatistics; and Data Science. All core courses (biostatistics, epidemiology, and SAS) are offered online. -

The master’s degree program is designed exclusively for licensed occupational therapy assistants (OTAs) who have also received initial certification by NBCOT. A limited number of spaces in the program are also available to license physical therapist assistants (PTAs) who have worked with an occupational therapist.
