Master's Scholarship: see relevant information here .AboutThe rapid evolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is rapidly transforming society, plunging us into a reality of electronic systems and devices interconnected in a network, with enormous computing capacities, and capable of supporting a large number of Applications. This context has fostered the development of a new paradigm, known as the Internet of Things (IoT), in which embedded systems network, acquire and process a high volume of data and offer services through the network, thus making it possible to reality concepts such as SmartCities, SmartCar, SmartBuildings or the ubiquitous eHealth application.
The set of computer technologies and techniques grouped under the areas called "Internet of Things" (Internet of Things, IoT) and "Intelligent Systems" are having a very considerable impact on the current evolution of more established fields such as Distributed Systems, Computing in the Cloud or Artificial Intelligence. The Internet of Things is opening a new era in industrialization and innovation, providing organizations with the ability to automatically collect and analyze data from connected devices, sensors, machines, and people. However, the business and industrial fabric needs to go one step further in order to understand and learn from all this enormous amount of data. It is here where the need arises to provide intelligence to all this information.
From a scientific point of view, the future projection of these technologies is assumed and more and more research groups are focused on these areas. For its part, the teaching field is also beginning a progressive, although slow, incorporation of these contents in the study plans. However, the business world already demands professionals trained in these areas that, due to their recent projection, the University programs have not yet covered. The relevance of this type of content is leading to the creation of various specialization degrees in various universities. However, in this case, a broader spectrum Master is proposed that provides students with a more global vision of these technologies and that allows them to join interdisciplinary work groups in the field of any of these technologies. This is a shared opinion from the business world, where the need for knowledgeable engineers that allow interconnecting existing technologies in this broad field of the computer profession is emphasized.
That is why this title aims to train students in these contents, influencing the integration of technologies, applications, services and systems in very broad and multidisciplinary contexts.

goalsThe University Master's Degree will train professionals capable of working with the technologies involved in the Internet of Things world, from sensors to cloud services. For this, the sensors and data capture elements, the interconnection networks that allow the transmission of the data obtained by these sensors and the data storage systems in the cloud will be studied initially. Once there, the methods of processing these data will be studied considering their large volume and the need to use artificial intelligence techniques to extract the maximum information from the processed data. The problem of ensuring security in these areas will also be addressed from different perspectives.
Emphasis will be placed on the practical aspects, providing Internet of Things equipment to all students and promoting individual laboratory work, whenever possible.RecipientsThe Master's degree is aimed at university graduates in Engineering with training in Computer Science.
For this reason, the recommended entry profile for this University Master's Degree is that of those who hold a university degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar qualifications that provide the computer base. The Master does not include training supplements for students of other degrees. Why study this master? The Internet of Things is one of the technological developments that has the greatest push today and where the greatest number of professionals are being hired. The report "Connected Industry 4.0", led by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism identifies 5 technological areas that will define the future of Spanish industry. One of these lines is Internet of Things. Internationally, the “IEEE CD 2022 Report” report chooses 23 technological innovations that can change the industry in 2022, among them are the Internet of Things and Intelligent Data Processing Systems.
The graduate of the Master's Degree will be able to work in any of the aspects involved in the Internet of Things, from the conception of the Internet of Things infrastructure and the management of data collection, to the processing of the generated data. Basic knowledge of all these processes will be provided to provide a broad base that allows for the exercise of a variety of professional positions, from consulting to engineering, through the operation of these systems.Admission requirements for mastersNon-enabling university mastersBe in possession of any of the following titles:Spanish official university degree .
