The Escuela Hotelera de San Juan arose from the vision and initiative of Mrs. Sylvia Cestero León to provide Puerto Rico with a prestigious training center in programs related to hospitality services. In the beginning, he was part of the Sylvia Cestero de Toyos Vocational High School, a vocational institution, a highly skilled technician with more than twenty years of service. The Escuela Hotelera de San Juan grew and developed as an autonomous institution based on Calle Mayagüez and classrooms on Avenida Barbosa and Avenida 65 de Infantería until 2003 when it moved to its new facilities at Calle Guayama, No. 229, in Hato Rey.
Almost 25 years after its founding, the Escuela Hotelera de San Juan has significantly impacted the food and beverage industry and the community in general. Proof of this are the countless activities promoted by the presence of graduates in prestigious professional settings.
In August 2009, the Escuela Hotelera de San Juan inaugurated its campus in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico located on Highway 114, Km 0.4, Sector Western Industrial Park, Barrio Guanajibo in Mayagüez.
