Introduction
The Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics Program at Providence College is a program rich and diverse in mathematical content and designed for the mathematics educator. Consistent with the recommendations of the National Research Council, the mathematics-computer science faculty at Providence College affirms that excellence in teaching requires a thorough preparation by introducing the student to a variety of topics in both mathematics and math education.
This program welcomes applications from all college graduates who have completed at least 24 credit hours in mathematics beyond pre-calculus or 18 credit hours in mathematics beyond pre-calculus and 6 hours in education. Applicants who do not meet this requirement may enroll in directed reading courses in preparation for this program. Reading courses are designed through consultation with the program director. Reading courses can not be used for graduate credit.
