Introduction
The M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine program has a duration of 3 academic semesters (and up to 8 semesters for part-time study) and requires the completion of 90 ECTS.
It combines a course component of 70 ECTS in total (each student can take elective courses from a list of Restricted Elective Courses (see Postgraduate Prospectus) and tailor the program to his/her interests) and the series of departmental postgraduate seminars.
The course BIO 680 (Scientific Methodology in Molecular Biology) carries 20 ECTS, is compulsory, and is a literature-based dissertation, which is presented orally and assessed.
Students are eligible to sign up for this course after they have successfully completed 70 ECTS of coursework.

Admissions
Curriculum
Master Degree in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine does not involve a laboratory-based research dissertation. To obtain this degree, candidates must successfully complete 90 ECTS, as follows: The course BIO 680 (Scientific Methodology in Molecular Biology) carries 20 ECTS and it is compulsory. Students are eligible to sign up for this course after they have successfully completed at least 60 ECTS of restricted elective courses. Seminar attendances (BIO 800 and BIO 801) in separate semesters are also compulsory, along with seminar BIO 805. The course BIO 605 Basic Laboratory Health and Safety Training is also compulsory and must be successfully completed during the Fall Semester of the first year of study. The remaining 70 ECTS are fulfilled with restricted elective courses.
The duration of study is at least three semesters with a maximum of eight semesters. Students enrolled in this Master's degree are eligible to apply for a change of program, as stipulated by the Postgraduate Studies Regulations. The application is subject to approval by the Postgraduate Studies Committee of the Department and the Departmental Council. For more information, please consult the Department Secretariat or the Graduate School of the University of Cyprus.
