The first level Academic Master's Degree in "Ecodesign, Digital Innovation and Social Change" intends to train "eco-designers", i.e. new professional figures capable of design-managing the life cycle of a product in order to prevent and reduce its impacts on the environment, through the application of specific design methods, the use of eco-innovative materials and the use of design criteria guided by the principles of environmental sustainability. Developing environmentally and socially sustainable products is one of the main objectives of the 21st century design culture. Ecodesign and circular economy are two key elements of a sustainable economic model. A design based on the efficient use of resources and materials, in fact, allows both to reduce the environmental impact linked to production, but also contributes to reducing the amount of waste generated, intervening on the durability, reparability, possibility of updating and recyclability of the products themselves . A good design, to be truly such, therefore puts the principles of the circular economy at the centre. The Master offers in-depth knowledge of the most recent national and international environmental policies and regulations relating to product eco-innovation and provides specialized scientific-cultural and technical-operational skills for the design and development of eco-sustainable products. The main objective of the Master is to enable students to achieve a competitive and strategic technical-scientific preparation in the field of design for environmental sustainability, which facilitates their insertion, as designers, consultants or freelancers, in the various corporate realities and professional, public and private, through the acquisition of the necessary skills to increase the environmental performance of products and to integrate the design criteria of Eco-design in the traditional process of designing and developing new products.

Course program
Module 01. Ecodesign For Social Change
The module aims to provide transversal skills for sustainable design and development in the complete sense, therefore in an environmental, social and economic key.
Both theoretical issues and purely design aspects will be addressed, thanks to the guidance of expert planners and designers who will address all aspects of the subject: from executive detail to prototyping.
Module 02. Project culture
The module includes a focus on the understanding and interpretation of the architectural space project and the product, understood as territories that interact with each other in a transversal way. The themes of design for all in design will be explored.
Module 03. Technology of new materials and ergonomics
In-depth study of materials, from a theoretical-artistic point of view and of specific techniques, with particular attention to information on their toxicity, the relative precautions and the rules to be respected. Activities aimed at knowing and understanding both the properties and the technical-expressive potential of the materials will be carried out with the teacher, in relation to research and experimentation.
Module 04. Product design
Students will be provided with design tools and skills based on a Human Centered methodology, which focuses on the study of people's needs and characteristics.
Module 05. Urban Regeneration
The module focuses on understanding the cultural, social and environmental changes taking place, which are revolutionizing the scenarios of urban transformation. To better prepare future designers, architects and professionals in the sector, all the design processes will be addressed: from the conception of the concept to the final representation of the drawings.
Module 06. Computer technologies
The module aims to provide designers with technologically advanced tools to design, test and prototype their projects. For this reason, there will be a focus on numerous tools for the spatial visualization and verification of design ideas, the production of graphic works and the representation of information through the use of databases and scientific data.
The lessons range from environmental and cost analysis to design and architectural drawing.
