The Swiss School of Management has successfully fulfilled the high-quality criteria of the following accreditation bodies:

The International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) is the leading outcome-based accrediting organization for business, management and accounting programs in student-centered colleges, universities and other higher education institutions throughout the world.

The Swiss School of Management has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) located at 11374 Strang Line Road in Lenexa, Kansas, USA.

The Swiss School of Management is certified by eduQua, the first Swiss quality label geared toward adult continuing education. eduQua is made up of over 1000 schools, institutions and academies in all of Switzerland. eduQua is a certification body recognized and supported by the Swiss Confederate Government. It is the first quality certification for public and private educational institutions in Switzerland.

The Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK) endorses eduQua as an officially recognized quality assurance scheme. EDK highly recommends the institution of higher education certified by eduQua. In more and more cantons, the certification is a requirement for public funding. The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) also endorses EduQua.

Swiss School of Management is listed in the CHEA Database as programmatically accredited by IACBE which is a national advocate and institutional voice for academic quality through accreditation, CHEA is a U.S. association of degree-granting colleges and universities and recognizes institutional and programmatic accrediting organizations. CHEA is the only national organization focused exclusively on higher education accreditation and quality assurance.

Swiss School of Management is recognized by CHEA-Council for Higher Education Accreditation. (At present CHEA has not updated SSM’s status granting also Bachelor and Doctoral Degrees.)

The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is a United States organization of degree-granting colleges and universities. It identifies its purpose as providing national advocacy for self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation in order to certify the quality of higher education accrediting organizations, including regional, faith-based, private, career, and programmatic accrediting organizations.

The organization has approximately 3,000 academic institutions as members and currently recognizes approximately 60 accrediting organizations.

CHEA is based in Washington, DC. CHEA is a member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies (INQAAHE).

International Student Week

Our International Student Weeks take place every semester/term and are specifically designed to enhance the international experience. Students from other schools we collaborate with visit our campus for a week and take part in a wide range of topics and events with our students, including company visits, managerial problem-solving games, and exclusive guest speakers among many others.

    Barcelona has a plethora of cool neighborhoods, but in recent years, there is one barrio that just hasn’t stopped changing and growing. Poblenou lies at the center of the Barcelona design movement, and attracts everyone from hipsters to startups with its trendy markets, concept stores and innovative festivals. The perfect barrio to kick off your studies!

    The Swiss School of Management Barcelona campus is located in the 22@ Poblenou district, known also as one of the most prominent innovation and technology hubs in Europe. We are located in and part of the Talent Garden ecosystem, a 5-minute walk to the beach and the Llacuna metro, in Poblenou.

    The Talent Garden ecosystem is 4,000 m2 big distributed over 4 floors and accommodates over 40 startups. Our campus is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building and space that provides a framework for healthy, efficient, carbon and cost-saving green buildings. Our campus has private study spaces, classrooms that can accommodate 25 students, a large auditorium as well as a cafeteria.
    The city center is only 10 minutes away from the Swiss School of Management Barcelona and is conveniently served by public transport services. Within walking distance, you will also find plenty of comfortable accommodation options, gyms, bars, restaurants and coffee shops.

      Visa Requirements

      If you are enrolled in one of our on-campus programs and are a citizen of a country outside the European Union and European Economic Area and Switzerland, you are required to obtain a Spanish study visa to study at the Swiss School of Management Barcelona.

      Applying for a Spanish study visa can be a long process depending on your country of residence. We advise that you start the process on time to secure your study visa before the start of your studies in Barcelona.

      Steps to Secure your Spanish Study Visa

      After your enrolment at the Swiss School of Management Barcelona, you need to take the following steps to secure your long-term Spanish study visa for programs that last longer than 6 months.

      Step 1. Book your Study Visa Appointment

      You can submit your visa application up to 120 days before starting your study at the Swiss School of Management in Barcelona. Search for Spanish Embassies and Consulates around the world and find an office closest to your place of residence. You may be required to book an appointment at the embassy/consulate to submit your application. We advise you to take this step as soon as you are enrolled at the Swiss School of Management Barcelona. If you are allowed to travel to Spain without a visa for a period of 90 days or have a Schengen tourist visa for the same period, you can convert your tourist visa into a Spanish study visa directly from Spain. In this case, please contact our admissions team for more information.

      Step 2. Gather all the necessary Documents

      Check the Spanish Embassy / Consulate websitein your country of residence for the full list of required documents required to obtain a Spanish study visa as this usually varies from country to country. You will be required to provide Spanish translation and legalization of some documents. Required documents generally include:

      1. Swiss School of Management Enrolment Letter
      2. Official Spanish Study Visa application form
      3. Passport or Travel document valid in Spain
      4. Permission from parents or legal guardians for minors if you are under 18 years of age.
      5. Financial Means to cover tuition and living expenses. Typically students have the following amounts in their bank accounts at least 6 months before their student visa application:
        1. BBA – €19,000 per year
        2. MBA – €20,000 per year
        3. DBA – €20,000 per year
      6. Health Insurance valid in Spain. Our admissions team can assist.
      7. Medical Certificate
      8. Police Report from countries of residence over the past 5 years
      9. Some Proof of Accommodation in Spain

      Step 3. Submit your Visa Application

      On the appointment date, t all required documents have to be submitted. You may also go through an interview process. You will be required to pay an application visa fee at this point, so make sure to know the methods of payment accepted by the Embassy.

      Step 4. Notice and Pick up

      You should receive notice of the decision taken on your visa application within 2 weeks to 1 month from your visa application submission. In some cases, the embassy/consulate may take longer to provide a decision. If the answer is positive, you will receive a 90-day Spanish study visa on your passport, and you will be required to get your Spanish student residence card upon arrival in Spain. Your newly issued Spanish student card will replace the student visa in your passport. If the answer is negative, you will be informed of the reasons why you were denied your visa and will have the option to reapply or appeal your case.

      Step 5. Get your Spanish Student Residence Card in Spain

      Upon your arrival to Spain, you will need to register yourself as a resident in Barcelona at the nearest Citizen Help and Information Offices (OAC) (this process is called “empadronamiento” in Spanish) and afterward book an appointment on the government website to get your student residence card. Your card which is called aTIE (Tarjeta de identidad del Extranjero)is normally issued after a month. Your fingerprints will be collected and you need to submit the following required documents:

      • For Empadronamiento:
        • Passport or travel document
        • Official Empadronamiento Registration form
        • Rental agreement of your apartment (Original and Copy). If the rental agreement is not in your name, you will need to get an authorization from the rentee.
      • For Getting your Student Residence Card:
        • Swiss School of Management Enrolment Letter
        • EX-17 Official Application form
        • Passport or travel document
        • Proof of payment of the fee needed to process your card
        • A recent passport-size color photograph, with a white background
        • Evidence of home registration (empadronamiento) in Barcelona

      With a valid student residence card (TIE), you will be allowed to work for up to 30 hours a week on an employment contract, take on an internship, and travel to countries within the Schengen region.

      While we are a private institution, at the Swiss School of Management Barcelona we believe that education is the key to a successful future. We offer scholarships and information about a host of other financial aid options to support students who are committed to their personal and professional development.

      The Swiss School of Management Scholarships are a way of recognizing the academic, professional, and personal achievements of our students. We award up to 15% scholarships for our BBA, MBA, and DBA programs for students who have demonstrated:

      • Leadership in Business

      Forcibly Displaced Student Discount

      Swiss School of Management Barcelona recognizes the plight of students who are forced to leave their homes due to conflict, violence, human rights violations, persecution, disasters, and the adverse effects of climate change. We offer forcibly displaced students (with official status recognized by government bodies / accredited non-governmental institutions) an opportunity of continuing their education and obtain a 15% discount on the tuition fees of our BBA, MBA, and DBA programs.

      Company Tax Deductions

      If your education is being funded by a company in Europe, they will be able to claim tax deductions from your school fees in their annual tax declaration.
