Course summary The course explores documentary photography and photojournalism as exciting and expanding mediums, through a combination of practice-based teaching and discussion of critical contexts. We take each applicant on their own merit. This can include students of documentary photography or photographers in general who are interested in specialising in this area and developing their practice. Also welcome are artists who wish to focus their activities on more social practice, and individuals from other disciplines, who wish to explore the subject area at a post-grad level. The Documentary Photography and Photojournalism MA allows students to explore society through a photographically-related practice and within critically-informed ways that maintain connections with the issue, yet also consider fresh visual approaches to the subject matter. We explore the idea that documentary practice and photojournalism are situated within their own histories and may take many forms in the 21st Century. Course structure ... [-]

Business and industry used their big data to extract a better understanding of customers’ needs and behaviour, to develop targeted new products and to cut operational costs. The competitive advantages and productivity gains that big data brought led to a great number of big data projects and a shortage of people with the required skills.... [-]

Course summary The MArch (Part 2) is a long-established and well-respected course that is prescribed by the ARB and validated by the RIBA to give exemption from the second stage of professional education. The emphasis of the course is on innovative design work, and on developing a caring and critical approach to the study and practice of architecture. The course fosters diversity of choice, interpretation and approach, whether in design projects or more academic research. The former focuses on sophisticated design programmes (in formal, technical, professional or urban terms) that demand rigour and self-criticism. The latter focuses on your major dissertation, an extended piece of specialised research into architecture and its historical or theoretical contexts. The course has three main objectives: to develop your design ability through project-based experimentation; to present an evaluation and critique of your coursework within a broad cultural context, and in light of technical, economic and legal constraints; and to promote the articulate explanation and representation of quality and value in design projects. Course summary This course gives you both a Qualifying Law Degree and the Legal Practice Course (LPC). The course is geared to professional practice, and you can start your training to become a solicitor as soon as you graduate. From the start of the course, you will be given an introduction to the skills required by lawyers. This prepares you for the clinical experience in Years 3 and 4, where you will work with real clients on real cases, offering you invaluable experience which will make you more attractive to future employers. Fees are consistent throughout rather than increasing at the LPC stage, so the course offers a more accessible route to becoming a solicitor. On completion, you will carry out a period of work-based learning (currently called a training contract) under the supervision of a solicitor. Students completing the course, or those choosing to leave with a Qualifying Law Degree after three years, can also begin to train as a barrister. The general ethos of the course is one of integration of the academic and practical. In Years 1 and 2 you will cover the same core subjects as you would on a Qualifying Law Degree. Alongside these subjects, you will study two modules, Legal Systems and Skills and 21st Century Law and Skills, which have been specifically designed for this course. In Year 3 you will build on the foundations provided in these preparatory skills modules to work on real cases handled by the Student Law Clinic in... [-]
